Susan Taylor Rash is a Senior Attorney with The Van Winkle Law Firm. In her estate and trust practice, Susan works with clients to identify goals and develop estate plans to meet those goals, which often includes trusts for minor children or grandchildren, business succession planning, charitable giving, planning for incapacity or tax planning. She prepares estate plans ranging from simple wills to complex trust agreements, frequently developed in collaboration with other advisors. Susan also assists executors and trustees with the administration of estates and trusts.

Susan’s experience in the development of residential communities has given her an understanding of the requirements of the North Carolina Planned Community Act, and she regularly works with homeowners’ association boards in the review and amendment of restrictive covenants and on association management matters.

Susan also currently serves as the Town Attorney for the Town of Montreat.

Susan spent childhood summers with her grandparents in the Asheville area. After graduation from the University of Georgia School of Law, she returned to the mountains of Western North Carolina to begin her career with the Asheville law firm of Adams, Hendon, Carson, Crow & Saenger, P.A., where she practiced until 2017, when she joined Patla, Straus, Robinson & Moore, P.A. She joined The Van Winkle Law Firm in December 2023.
