Travis L. Smuckler

Travis is an attorney in Van Winkle’s Asheville office and concentrates his practice on employment litigation and compliance as well as business transactions.  He represents clients on all facets of employment law including but not limited to disputes involving equal employment opportunities, restrictive covenants, unemployment compensation rights, immigration issues, and wage and hour violations.  He often represents employers in EEOC and DOL investigations.      

Travis earned his undergraduate degree, summa cum laude and later his J.D., cum laude from the University of Tennessee.   While in law school, he served as President of the College of Law’s Business and Tax Law Association and successfully completed the Clayton Center’s Concentration in Business Transactions.

Growing up just across the mountains in Maryville, Tennessee, Travis knew early he wanted to live and work in the southern Appalachians. He met his wife Helena, originally from Serbia, while an undergraduate at Tennessee, and they moved to Asheville together in the summer of 2009. Travis enjoys watching and playing a variety of sports and traveling to places he has never been.

A Fun Fact: At birth, Travis made the newspaper by being the biggest baby in the hospital
