Jones joined Van Winkle in 1995 after spending over two decades as a partner in a neighboring Asheville firm. Jones’s practice continues to focus on civil litigation and dispute resolution. In his active eminent domain practice, Jones represents landowners and one utility condemnor, and he lectures from time to time in the eminent domain field.

• Obtained recovery in excess of $1.1 million for maintenance worker and his wife against sterilized door-locking mechanism manufacturer located in Bucks County, PA for incident occurring in Western North Carolina manufacturing facility.
• Represented international paper company defending eminent domain case brought by Buncombe County, NC seeking to condemn land for county landfill resulting in jury verdict in client’s favor, implementing total recovery exceeding $1.1 million plus costs.
• Obtained recoveries exceeding $1 million for middle-aged victims of teenage clergy abuse, including exhumation and relocation of offending clergy corpse.
• Successfully represented eight landowners with small business, raw land and homes against NCDOT when their highway frontage was changed due to widening of US Highway 74, resulting in total recoveries exceeding $2 million, averaging triple the compensation offered by NCDOT.
