James W. Baley

James is an associate with The Van Winkle Law Firm's Trust & Estates Practice Group. In 2011, he received his law degree from the University of Florida after practicing for three years as a C.P.A. in the Asheville office of a regional public accounting firm. While in law school, James earned a Certificate in Estates and Trusts Practice and was a member of the Trial Team and National Tax Moot Court Team.

James’s practice involves trust and estate disputes and fiduciary related claims in addition to estate planning, estate administration, business succession planning and tax controversy representation.

James comes to the practice of law as a third generation Asheville attorney following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather. James is delighted to be back home in the mountains where he and his wife, Kit, grew up and met during high school.

James and Kit enjoy spending time with their dogs, mountain biking, backpacking, travelling and enjoying friends and family.
