A native of Robbinsville, North Carolina, Carolyn is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (1974), Phi Kappa Phi, and received her law degree from the University of North Carolina Law School at Chapel Hill (1999). She is married to Orville D. Coward, Jr., an attorney with Coward, Hicks and Siler, P.A.
