Allan is married to Donna Tarleton, a middle school librarian. Their son, Penn, is a student at the College of Wooster (Ohio). Allan is a competetive triathlete, commuting to the office by bike as much as possible and training regularly throughout the year.
Allan also enjoys hiking with his family and playing golf. He belongs to the Pen & Plate Club, a group of professionals and academicians who meet every month for dinner and a member’s essay, and he’s a member of a men’s book club.
